2nd Annual Physi-yo! AGM ...
23-10-07 Matt Carson
As the more intelligent of you may have realised from the heading, the 2nd Annual AGM is on this Monday. Information was sent out in an email, if you didnt get it then i've reposted it in the forum. Basically if you think someone should be in the '08 committee, send their name, year level, and the position you want them to fill to monashphysiosociety@hotmail.com. I'm not 100% whether we'll be posting who's nominated for what position, i'll post here when i know. Oh and get their permission first. Or conversely, you can get someone to nominate you on your behalf. That'd be easiest.
The positions available are the same as always. You have a look at the handsome people who currently occupy that position here or look at what their role comprises here.
Another thing, i know it was a while ago but a huge shout out to everyone who made the ball such an enjoyable evening. From crazy photographers to drunk tutors, the night had it all. A few photos have been put up and can be seen in the gallery, and if you have some that you want to chuck up the easiest way is probably to give me the link on facebook to your gallery and i guess I'll add them during one of my numerous study breaks. Most people already on facebook are part of the Monash Physiotherapy group, so yeah I'm the one named Matt Carson... If you don't have facebook (seriously?!) and have pictures you want put up, then email me at mjcar3@student.monash.edu.au and we'll see what we can do.
So in summary, nominate someone or get someone to nominate you for the 08 committee. I'll update information as it comes to me. And studying 3 years worth of physio in 2 weeks doesn't really work...
Enjoy.
And this is how it ended ...
3-09-07 Matt Carson
Footy tipping came to a thrilling climax, with 3 people tied for the first 3 places. The margin ended up being the splitter, and the top 5 places being held by third years! The results are as follows:
1st Place: Matt Carson - 118 tips (cumulative margin: 548) ($50)
2nd Place: Kylie M - 118 tips (cumulative margin: 602) ($20)
3rd Place: Nick Ryde - 118 tips (cumulative margin: 635) ($10)
Last Place: Chloe Milne - 74 tips (cumulative margin: 993) ($10)
Congratulations to all involved and next year we may expand into dream team competitions as well. If you have any other sporting online ideas feel free to mention them and i'll try to get them set up!
So it comes down to this ...
27-08-07 Matt Carson
Its the final round of footy tipping and things couldn't be closer. Tied for first place we have myself, Kylie M and Nick Ryde on 111 points. Only one point behind are Jack Mest and SuperSev. A daring tip that pays off could be the difference between taking the cash or going home empty handed. A reminder of the prizes:
First place: $50
Second place: $20
Third place: $10
Last place: $10
Good luck to all those in the running (i personally hope you all do really badly this week)
Have a ball ...
13-08-07 Matt Carson
It's getting closer to the ball. To signify this the poster is out: click here to have a look! Tickets will be on sale soon and we are still working out a method for third years!
By the way if you watch Australian Idol make sure you vote for Jesse Curran! Not only is she a super cool physio she is Che and my supervisor up here in Mildura. So get behind her :).
Finally nice work to Nick who has a handy two point lead going into the tail end of the footy tipping season. A bigger congrats to Nathan who managed to tip 7 on the weekend to be the best tipper from the competition.
Hope everyone is enjoying placements/uni!
In da Hoodie ...
1-08-07 Ali Facey
What: Grey hooded and zipped jumpers (full length zip) with the physio society symbol on the front (see logo at top of page)
When: If everyone can get their order form in before Wed 8th August we hope to have them in before the end of August.
Cost: Depending on the number of people who order, they should cost around $30 each, which is pretty cheap for a nice jumper.
Sizes: Men: XS S M L XL (Nathan Williams or myself will have them at uni until the orders close if you want to try these sizes on)
Women: 8 10 12 14 16 (these are very close to normal sizes, so if you’re a 12 normally, I’d order a size 12 jumper. We don’t have any samples, but I’ve been assured this is the case)
To order either email me at alfac1@student.monash.edu.au giving your name and size, or find us in the corridors.
Thanks!
You know the apocolypse is coming when...
18-07-07 Matt Carson
...Nathan isn't coming last in the footy tipping. Repent.
Yep we are still alive...
04-07-07 Matt Carson
Hey. How's it going? Well that's no good. I'll tell you what is though! The first ever mid year report is out for the MPS [click here to download]. Granted this is the first mid-year there has been for the society, so of course its going to be the first of its kind, but still... exciting!
There is information in the report about the Physio Ball and Hoodie sales, so have a look by either clicking on the link above or the back up copy in the forum.
Apart from that I hope first and second years are enjoying their break and the third years are enjoying clinicals. Damn there are some crazy people out there.
Take care
What comes before part b? Part-ay! ...
08-06-07 Matt Carson
Hey everyone, hope the first week of clinicals was enjoyable for all third years and i hope the exam revision is coming along nicely for first and second years. Clinicals are lots of fun (well at least mine is fun, i cant speak for all third years) so first and second years make sure you work towards getting a good placement. Talk to the third years when you can about their experiences on placements so you can find the best places to go! Mildura Base Hospital is an awesome place if you are willing to live away from home for 15 weeks with some med students, so i'd highly recommend that.
Anywho enough about me, the society has an after exams party set up for the first and second years (and third if you are available) at Icon Bar in the city. There are more details in the forum but entry is FREE so there's nothing to lose and you can spend more money on the cheap drinks!
Details regarding the Physio Ball will be posted soon; the date at the moment appears to be Wednesday September 19 so keep that date free in your diaries.
Apart from that good luck to all who undertake exams over the next week or so and I hope you pass with flying colours.
Take care and go the Hawks :)!
Logo...
01-06-07 Matt Carson
Well the logo is finally up on the website. Have a look up the top of the page to view, and there is also a bigger version in the forum! Congratulations to the winner of the logo competition.
Also, I am about to leave for Mildura on my clinical placement, so if the main page doesn't get regularly updated its because I have limited internet access. Good luck to all third years about to take their placements, and good luck to the second and first years about to do their exams.
Ciao!
New news we thought you knew...
24-05-07 Matt Carson
Hey everyone. First off congrats to thirds years on finishing exams, now its time for clinicals! If you're like me you are just realising how long 15 weeks actually is...
Anyways in society related news, a poll is up in the forum in which you can vote for the type of society top you want. Poll ASAP so we can get that in the works. If you have any ideas for designs and stuff leave a message in that section of the poll, or if youd like to suggest a different type of top (like a hoodie or rugby jumper) then write that as well and I'll add it to the poll. So head to the forum now and vote. You matter!
Also Ali would like everyone to be aware of the upcoming Wildfire event. It will be held this friday (25th!) at the Seahorse Tavern, entry is free and you get free food, so it sounds like the place to be! For more details see Ali.
Finally just a reminder to all committee members there will be a meeting this MONDAY from 12-1 so make sure you're there.
From me and i'm sure everyone else good luck to the 2nd and 1st years as they get to enjoy the fun that is exams, and third years enjoy clinicals!!!
P.S. Out of the top 8 in footy tipping 7 are third years!!! Man we rock! :)
Goodbye from Shari ...
24-05-07 Shari Randall
Hey everyone.
Most of you probably don't know this but I resigned from presidency of the club around a month ago, and as of that date I decided to no longer be in committee. I really enjoyed being the president, and hope that you all enjoyed the events we held for you when i was president. Being president, was a huge role and took so much of my time. Due to recent personal circumstances I felt I could no longer maintain the role of presidency to the standard that I thought you guys deserved, so I stepped down. However since my stepping down, the commitee hasn't really done much, which does sadden me because I put so much work into it. I thought that they would at least organise a party to farewell all the third yrs going to clincs and maybe a bbq. But I guess they too are finding being on committee a time consuming and challenging (as well as fun) role. So please support the commitee, and maybe you as the members can also help them out in organising things.
Good luck to you all, and I'll see you all around uni :)
Shari
We now have lynx ...
27-04-07 Matt Carson
The links page is now up, with a variety of links I believe are of interest and important. This page will be updated later with other sites, so if you have any suggestions, dont be afraid to speak up. By the way, the reason there is no link in the content of the links page to my.monash and MUSO is because they are already on every page up the top right. No need to get repetitive.
The polls are now being run through the forum! Clicking on the link will take you to the poll page, however only those registered in the forum may vote. Its quick and relatively painless.
And finally, this CBL assignment is taking forever.
Good day
Poll fixed...
24-04-07 Matt Carson
The poll has been fixed. You can click on the polls button above or on the click here to vote link to the left to vote.
Also I've removed the AFL tipping leaderboard from every page bar the home page.
If you have any things you'd like to see added to the site suggest it in the forum.
Have a good ANZAC day
*Edit: I hate polls. Its not working apparently*
I remember when i used to be into nostalgia...
19-04-07 Matt Carson
A few things that have come up of recent time..
The sports trainer course is this Sunday (the 22nd)! If you have paid and got your receipt then make sure you go to reception to pick up your material. For more information make sure you check the forum!
Secondly all the best to Dan our treasurer who has just got out of hospital after his run in with a car. Hopefully he can get back to uni to as soon as possible.
Thirdly I think Dee has shown everyone that having no idea about footy doesn't mean you can't be good at tipping. At least she's being modest about it...
Whilst we are on the topic, I think special notice should be given to the vice-president Nathan, who has managed to tip 5 winners after 3 rounds. Thats a correct tipping percentage of less than 21%. Thats an effort.
Sport's Trainer Course
12-04-07 Matt Carson
The sport's trainer course for 2nd and 3rd years is being held on Sunday April 22. There is a brochure to be picked up from building B reception, and apparently SMA want payment by Monday the 16th, which happens to be the first day back. Therefore I advise that people have the money available on that Monday back. For more details check the events section of the forum.
Also you may notice that the Calendar is now up and running. I'm running it through the forum however anyone can access it. Either click the calender link above or go through the forum.
The World Wide Web awaits
08-04-07 Matt Carson
Well its happened, we have a legitimate web address: www.monashphysio.com. As you can see from the address bar you are currently at that web address, and its all by magic. Not really, but to the casual observer it means 2 things. One that you can enter the old web address (www.monashphysio.vze.com) and still arrive here, and two that entering the new address will get you here. Amazing I know.
Other things which have changed, well my mate and I managed to get the site working in internet explorer, but still I highly recommend you move to firefox, as it is a much safer and more customizable web browser.
There is a link hidden in the header of the AFL Top 5 box on the right which will take you to the footytips homepage, just for easier accessability.
Also the next big thing happening with Physio for the 2nd and 3rd years is the Sports Trainer Course. Details are in the forum.
Apart from that I hope the Easter Bunny was nice to you and you got lots of chocolate! Have a safe week off.
Everything new is old again...
30-03-07 Matt Carson
I know this may come as a shock, and you may have to look twice, but I've changed the look of the website. It's amazing how when you have a few assignments to do you'll go to any lengths to avoid them. This is what I did to avoid my assignments. So at least I know that when I fail my semester, there'll always be the website...
A few new things you'll notice on the website. Number one is the Shout Box, which allows you to post or 'shout' a quick message on the website. Go nuts.
Second is the AFL tipping top 5, which will tell you who the top 5 in the tipping competition is. If you still havent joined yet you can, and your score will be as if you've tipped all the away teams so far.
Lets see what else. I've changed who I'm hosting the polls with to the left, just because this one is easier to use.
There are more pages up the click to. Also there are links to the my.monash portal, MUSO, and MULO.
So have a look around, leave some feedback in the forum, and enjoy the Easter Break.
